I do not charge for the initial consultation.*  It's important to find a good fit - with the project AND the client.  The scope of the project is discussed as well as the ideas the client has (the beginnings of an architectural program) and finally, if it will be possible to permit and build.

*There could be a fee is the site is further than 50 miles.  This will be known up front and agreed to by both parties.
